My name is Bond, James Bond that is.
Most folks just call me Jim, hence the name of my studio.
My photography experience all started 40 years ago, when my mother gave me her old Yashica range finder camera. I was in my early twenties and on my way back to Toronto by bus from New York city and visiting my family. During the trip home I started playing around with the camera and found myself feeling very limited by the fixed lens and knew there had to be a way to get more.
A few weeks later and after trading up to a Pentax SP100 at Toronto Camera, I was well into my addiction and there was no stopping me.
What started as a pass time and hobby, grew over the years into a full time pleasure and vocation. I can still remember the years working at other jobs, all the while dreaming of the day I would be able to take photos for a living and really be happy at my work.
Well that day came in late 1984, and was born out of necessity, due to being out of work in Newcastle, New Brunswick, Canada which at that time was experiencing a 60% unemployment rate.
Unable to find work and not being a fan of the welfare system, I decided to set up a small photo and custom framing studio called Visual-eyes, and the rest is just history and a very pleasurable experience.
In the early years, film was the medium employed to capture my images using a variety of film cameras in both 35mm format as well as medium film (6x7) format. Since the mid 1990s, I have become a very strong advocate of the digital photographic medium. I now use only digital equipment and am very excited about the strengths and flexibility that this medium affords the photographic artist.
Besides taking pictures, I have been very involved for over 15 years in the image processing industry. That is to say, I restore, color, and alter other peoples' photos, old or new. For samples of my work, go to the IMAGE PROCESSING section of this web site, or WATCH THE VIDEO.
Thank you for visiting, and please come back often as I will be continually adding to and updating my collections of images.
