Hi my name is
Dana Baisley, I was born
here on the river and lived on the Hill Top Road about 15 minutes from town. I
went NSER High School in Sunny Corner and then move to MVHS in grade nine. Many of you
may not know me unless you seen me I’m hiking around the area with a pool cue in
my hands instead of a camera. Photography has always been of interest to me,
and I played around with it when I was younger with those little instamatic
cameras or point and shoot cameras. I never did much with my images, as most of
them were not very good. A few years ago
I bought a Canon Digital Single Lens Reflex camera, and that changed everything.
Now I am almost never without my camera. Now that I have started to take
photography a little more seriously, I can go shooting all day long and it’s
just great. Even though I’ve
been shooting for a few years, I still consider myself to be a beginner. There
is so much I have to learn, but with the help of a few friends I am learning
more about things like depth of field, iso and shutter settings, as well as
some computer processing tips. I like to
keep my images as close to the original shot as possible without altering it to
much in the computer. Why do I like
photography? Because, for me it’s a way
to lock out the world for a while, get out in the woods and some fresh air. It’s
like hunting is for some people. They
get out in the woods and let loose, only they do it with a gun, where as I like
using the camera. Just like the hunters like looking for the big buck or that
big trophy, I like doing it with a
camera, always looking for that perfect image to capture something wonderful. I try to capture an image
of something that will never happen again, and that is why i have chosen the
name “Monuments In Time”. I want to do to catch that second, that monument when
a baby takes it first steps, or to see that baby bear crawl out of its den and
takes a look at the world it just crawled into. To catch those monuments forever
so that other can enjoy the experience too.
